Panchakajjai or Panchakadayi as we call it in Konakani is prepared on certain auspicious occasions like Krishna Janmashtami, Gowri pooja and Ganesh Chaturthi  as an offering to the God and distributed as ‘Prasad’. We prepare it in large quantity and distribute to all our near and dear ones. I learnt to prepare this Prasadam from my Amma. I prepare this without measuring, below here is the recipe with approximate measure. Adjust the jaggery mixture and fried gram powder until both combines well.This is my 400th recipe and this is one of the best post to compliment the occasion.Happy Ganesh Chaturthi to all my readers those who are celebrating.

Churna or Coconut jaggery mixture- 1 cup,see here for the recipe
Fried gram- 3/4 cup
White or black sesame seeds- 4 tbsp
Cashewnuts- 15
Puffed paddy powder- 1 cup(optional)
Cardamom powder-1/2 tsp
Ghee- 2 tsp


  1. Dry roast the fried gram for 2-3 minutes until you get nice aroma.
  2. Coarse powder it.
  3. Wash sesame seeds and dry roast it.
  4. Roast cashewnuts separately and coarse powder it with sesame seeds.
  5. Mix all the ingredients mentioned in the list and combine it well.
