Mushroom tikka masala

I prepared this yummy mushroom tikka masala few days back as an accompaniment with Methi thepla.This time I myself enjoyed it to the core.The gravy tasted super tasty and was indeed finger licking. I had noted this recipe from a food group long back  much before blogging but unfortunately didn’t note the author.So I want to thank the concerned person for this yummy recipe.This recipe may be prepared with cottage cheese, babycorn or even with the egg.Most important is, the masala s should be fried well until the raw smell disappears,or else the gravy will taste raw.Best served with roti,naan or dosa.






Ingredients for the marinade:
Mushrooms-I packet,15
Pepper powder-1/4 tsp
Curds-1/4 cup(or hung curds)
Turmeric powder-a pinch
Tandoori masala powder-1tsp
Chilly powder-1 tsp
Salt-a pinch
Ghee or butter-1 tbsp

Ingredients for the gravy:
Cumin seeds-1/4 tsp
Onion-2.chopped
Ginger garlic paste-2 tsp
Tomatoes-3,cubed and pureed
Coriander powder-1/2 tsp
Cumin powder-1/4 tsp
Turmeric powder-a pinch
Chilly powder-1/4 tsp
Kasoori methi-1 tsp
Fresh cream -2 tbsp
Coriander leaves-2 tbsp for garnish
Salt-to taste
Ghee-2 tbsp


Method:

  1. Wash,clean and cut the mushroom into two or you may keep it whole.
  2. Marinate the Mushroom with the ingredients mentioned under the same except ghee.
  3. Meanwhile heat ghee in a pan and splutter cumin seeds.
  4. Add onions and fry until translucent,add ginger garlic paste and fry further for a minute.
  5. Add tomato puree and fry until the raw smell disappears, add all the powders one by one and fry for a minute.
  6. Add water and adjust the consistency of the gravy and take a boil.
  7. Heat ghee or butter in a separate pan and add the marinated mushrooms.
  8. Cook the mushrooms on high flame until the masala evaporates and becomes dry.
  9. Add the cooked mushrooms to the above gravy,add crushed kasoori methi ,cook on medium heat for 5 minutes.
  10. Add fresh cream,mix it and off the flame.
  11. Garnish with coriander leaves.
